Top Shot Kelly Bachand

CTD has an interview with Top Shot Kelly Bachand .

One question I would ask is: what's with the tape on your shooting glasses? My seven year old does that when she shoots.

We actually asked him about that in the interview, it just didn't make the cut to the published article.

The tape is there to make it easier to shoot with both eyes open. For shooters who are cross eye dominant (left eyed but right handed for example) the tape allows the shooter to keep both eyes open and force the non-dominant eye to take over dominance.

Kelly is left eye dominant but right handed. When shooting rifles or shotguns, occluding the left eye solves this problem. The other alternative is to close your non-aiming eye when shooting, but this causes muscle strain and can make the other eye start to squint.
