Surprising Grand Jury Return Over DGU
Surprisingly, a New York Grand Jury will not charge a woman with a crime for shooting a criminal during an invasion of her home. The fact that a panel of normal people would come to such a determination is not surprising—self defense is a normal, natural right. However, what is surprising is that it happened in New York. But then the real surprising part is that, according to the article, New York law will allow you to use deadly force to defend your possessions. Who would have thunk it?
The Grand Jury reviewed the evidence and circumstances surrounding the incident and have determined Candee's actions were justified. No criminal charges will be filed for the incident. The Grand Gury says Candee was protected under New York State law which says that a person in their own home who believes their belongings may be burglarized may use deadly physical force to stop the burglary.

Surprising to say the least. I'd add "wrong" as well.
